The Pangale Journal of Forestry and Environment is published by the Forestry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, University of West Sulawesi. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication of articles in the journal, namely Authors, Journal Editors, the Editor-in-Chief, Reviewers, and the Publisher.

1. Publication Ethics Guidelines

The publication of an article in the Pangale Journal of Forestry and Environment is a vital component in the development of a coherent and respected body of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the authors’ work and the institutions that support them. All published articles are peer-reviewed and contribute to the scientific method. Therefore, it is essential that all parties involved in the publishing process—Editors, the Editor-in-Chief, Reviewers, the Publisher, and the academic community—agree to uphold standards of ethical behavior.

2. Publication Decisions

Before online publication, the Editor-in-Chief, who is responsible for the journal’s content, consults with the editorial board and seeks input from reviewers. Decisions are based on established journal procedures, including manuscript submission, editorial checks, plagiarism and copyright screening, peer review, and layout verification. This process is carried out under the supervision of the editorial board, particularly the Editor-in-Chief.

3. Confidentiality

Manuscripts submitted to the Pangale Journal of Forestry and Environment are treated with utmost confidentiality. Editors and reviewers must not disclose any information regarding submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial board members, or the publisher.

4. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s or reviewer’s own research without the express written consent of the author.

Responsibilities of Editors

  1. Editors are responsible for deciding which manuscripts submitted to the journal are suitable for publication, guided by the editorial board’s policies and constrained by legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
  2. Editors must apply the principle of fair treatment in handling all manuscripts.
  3. Decisions regarding manuscripts must not be influenced by race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or the political philosophy of the authors.
  4. Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than those authorized.
  5. Unpublished manuscripts must not be used by editors for their own research and will be returned directly to the authors.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

  1. Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve their manuscripts.
  2. Reviewers are responsible for providing recommendations on the manuscripts they evaluate.
  3. Reviews must be conducted objectively and supported with clear arguments.
  4. Reviewers are responsible for identifying relevant published works that have not been cited, as well as detecting plagiarism.
  5. Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all information and must not use it for personal gain.

Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Authors must present their research findings clearly, honestly, and without fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or inappropriate data manipulation.
  1. Authors are fully responsible for the content and accuracy of their submitted manuscripts.
  2. Manuscripts must represent original work, not previously published, and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or publication.
  3. Authors must properly cite the work and opinions of others.
  4. Manuscripts must be written ethically, responsibly, and in accordance with established scientific writing standards.
  5. Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently.
  6. Authors agree to allow editorial revisions of their manuscripts, provided that the substance or main ideas are not altered.
