If you remix, transform or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.</span></p> Identification of The Lohman Brown Strain Purebred Chicken's Eggshells Based on Egg Age https://ojs.unsulbar.ac.id/index.php/jstp/article/view/4297 <p>This study aimed to identify the shell quality of Lohman brown strains. A total of 460 eggs aged 1–14 days from Lohman brown strains were collected from community farms in Gowa, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The study variables included egg weight, egg index, shell weight, thickness, and percentage. Analysis was conducted using analysis of variance (ANOVA), and the difference in shelf life was analyzed using Duncan's multiple range test. The results revealed that egg weight, egg index, shell weight, shell thickness, and shell percentage significantly (P&lt;0.05) affected egg age from 1 to 14 days. The study concluded that older Lohman Brown strain chicken eggs have reduced weight and shell thickness. Additionally, egg age significantly impacts shell weight, but shell thickness decreases as the egg ages. The color classification of eggshells over 14 days, as indicated by hex codes and sRGB values, shows significant variation, with the darkest brown occurring on days 6 and 11 and the lightest brown on day 1.</p> Anas Qurniawan Firnanelty Firnanelty Zulfiqar Busrah Andi Baso Kaswar Amriana Hifizah Astati Astati Rusny Rusny Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Sains dan Teknologi Peternakan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 6 1 1 11 10.31605/jstp.v6i1.4297 Evaluasi Penggunaan Tongkol Jagung dan Serutan Kayu Sebagai Pengganti Litter Sekam Padi https://ojs.unsulbar.ac.id/index.php/jstp/article/view/4341 <p>Bahan litter yang umum digunakan di peternakan unggas adalah sekam padi, karena ketersedian dan harga perlu dipertimbangkan bahan litter alternatif dengan tetap memperhatikan kualitas litter dan kinerja produksi.&nbsp; Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh bahan litter berbeda terhadap performa produksi dan kualitas litter ayam lokal. Materi yang digunakan adalah DOC ayam KUB sebanyak 315 ekor. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan Rancangan acak lengkap 3 perlakuan dan 7 ulangan yaitu: T1 (litter sekam padi); T2 (litter tongkol jagung giling); dan T3 (litter serutan kayu). Setiap petak perlakuan berisi 15 ekor ayam, variable yang diamati adalah pertambahan bobot badan, bobot akhir, konversi pakan, suhu litter, kadar air litter, ph litter dan amonia. Perlakuan bahan litter memberikan pengaruh nyata (P&lt;0,05) pada pH, kadar air, dan amonia litter, tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata (P&gt;0,05) terhadap PBB, FCR, bobot akhir, dan mortalitas.&nbsp; Kesimpulan yang diperoleh bahwa bahan litter tongkol jagung giling dan serutan kayu dapat digunakan sebagai pengganti litter sekam padi.</p> Dwi Rohmadi Ibrahim Laita Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Sains dan Teknologi Peternakan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 6 1 12 19 10.31605/jstp.v6i1.4341 Response of Beef Cattle Farmers to The Presence of Farmer Groups in South Parigi District, Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi https://ojs.unsulbar.ac.id/index.php/jstp/article/view/4354 <p>Livestock farming is a significant sub-sector of agriculture with substantial potential for development. Within this sub-sector, beef cattle farming stands out as a particularly promising enterprise. In South Parigi District, Parigi Moutong Regency, the presence of beef cattle farmer groups plays a crucial role in enhancing livestock productivity and quality. This study aims to ascertain the responses of beef cattle farmers and to evaluate the influence of age, education, and farming experience on these responses towards the presence of farmer groups in South Parigi District, Parigi Moutong Regency. This descriptive quantitative study used snowball sampling to select 32 samples. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The collected data were then analyzed using multiple linear regression statistical analysis. The results indicated that the majority of responses were categorized as high (20 respondents, 55.6 %), followed by medium (15 respondents, 41.7 %), and low (1 respondent, 2.8 %). The analysis revealed significant p-values for age (0.046), education level (0.012), and farming experience (0.031), indicating significant relationships between these factors and the responses of beef cattle farmers.</p> Eko Saputra N. Riset ini menggunakan ayam kedu jantan sebanyak 146 ekor dan ayam kedu betina sebanyak 185 ekor, dimana ayam kedu jantan dan betina tersebut berasal dari keluarga 12 pejantan ayam kedu dari dalam dan luar satker. uji Wilcoxon dilakukan pada parameter warna bulu kepala, badan, ekor, jengger/pial, dan shank, menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan (P&lt;0,05). Analisis PCA mengidentifikasi tiga pola penyebaran antara ayam kedu hitam dan kedu putih, dimana warna bulu badan dan shank menjadi klaster pembeda antara ayam kedu hitam dan kedu putih. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapatnya klaster perbedaan warna bulu menandakan masih tingginya variasi parameter yang diturunkan oleh tetua dari 12 ekor pejantan baik didalam maupun diluar satker. Karakteristik fisikokimia yang dianalisis meliputi kadar karbohidrat, kadar protein, kadar lemak, pH, TAT, a<sub>w</sub> serta parameter tekstur berupa elastisitas (keju mozarella) dan dan viskositas (susu sapi). Sementara, untuk <em>soft candy</em> dilakukan uji kualitas fisik meliputi pH, a<sub>w</sub>, tekstur (<em>soft candy</em>). Berdasarkan hasil analisis komposisi fisikokimia susu sapi pemerahan pagi dan sore, dapat disimpulkan bahwa susu pemerahan pagi lebih baik digunakan untuk pembuatan produk olahan seperti keju mozarella dan milk <em>soft candy</em>. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keju mozarella dari susu sapi lokal memiliki karakteristikyang setara dengan keju mozarella komersial, sementara <em>soft candy</em> menunjukkan profil tekstur yang kenyal. Susu hasil pemerahan pagi menghasilkan kualitas produk yang lebih baik.
