Abstract

 


The purpose of this study is to describe: 1) The meaning of corruption in general. 2) corruption from a theological perspective, to minimize new corruptors, especially in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Based on these problems, a theological and philosophical approach is used. This type of research is classified as library research with qualitative data processing and analysis methods. The data is collected by quoting, adapting, and analyzing literature relevant to the issues discussed, then reviewing and concluding them. After researching corruption from a theological perspective, the result is that corruption actually comes from the Latin word corruption, which literally means rottenness, depravity, ugliness, dishonesty, deviation from holiness, and insulting or slanderous words or remarks. From a theological perspective, corruption should be equated with committing a shirk towards God, for being irresponsible for the mandate one carries, so it seems as if belittling the belief in the existence of God. Even in Islamic theology, the deviation is punishable by sins which must be accounted for before God. The implication of this research is to minimize the occurrence of corruption, by instilling an understanding in the minds of individuals that these actions have deviated from religious orders and disobeyed God's commands.
