Indonesian Journal of Ecology and Conservation (IJEC) (E-ISSN: 3047-5392) is an Indonesian-based peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Center for Ecology, Conservation, and Ethnobiology Studies, Universitas Sulawesi Barat, Indonesia, in collaboration with the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Universitas Sulawesi Barat. IJEC is issued twice a year in March and September and publishes original research articles that contribute to the advancement of ecological and conservation sciences.

Indonesia is widely recognized as one of the world's megadiverse countries, harboring extraordinary diversity of flora, fauna, and microorganisms across a wide range of ecosystems. Among these regions, the island of Sulawesi occupies a unique biogeographical position within the Wallacea region, located between the Asian and Australian continental shelves. This geographical isolation has contributed to the evolution of numerous endemic species and complex ecological systems, making Sulawesi and the Indonesian archipelago an important focus for ecological, evolutionary, and conservation research.

The scope of IJEC includes studies in ecology, biodiversity, conservation biology, environmental biology, microbiology, microbial ecology, systematics, molecular ecology, evolutionary biology, ethnobiology, and ecosystem management, particularly within tropical ecosystems. The journal encourages scientific research addressing biodiversity of plants, animals, and microorganisms, covering multiple levels of biological organization including genes, species, populations, communities, and ecosystems.

The Indonesian Journal of Ecology and Conservation was first published in 2024 and operates using an online journal system (OJS) to support transparent and efficient scholarly publishing. All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scientific contribution of the published research.

IJEC serves as an academic platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to disseminate scientific knowledge and research findings in ecology and conservation science, while promoting a deeper understanding of biodiversity and supporting the sustainable management and conservation of biological resources.

Crossmark Policy

Indonesian Journal of Ecology and Conservation (IJEC) participates in the CrossMark initiative by Crossref, which provides a standard way for readers to locate the current and authoritative version of a published article. Maintaining the integrity, transparency, and reliability of the scholarly record is a core commitment of IJEC. Through CrossMark, readers can verify whether they are accessing the most recent and reliable version of an article.

By clicking the CrossMark icon on a published article, readers will be able to check the current status of the document and obtain additional information related to the publication record, such as updates, corrections, or retractions if applicable.

Publication Updates and Corrections

To ensure the accuracy of the scientific record, IJEC may publish the following types of updates or notices when necessary:

Addendum

An addendum is a publication that provides additional information related to a previously published article, usually presenting supplementary findings or clarifications that enhance the original publication.

Duplicate

A duplicate publication occurs when an article is unintentionally published more than once. In such cases, the duplicated article will be marked as a duplicate. The HTML version will be replaced with a notice explaining the duplication, and the PDF version will include a watermark indicating the duplication.

Erratum

An erratum is issued to correct errors identified in a previously published article. These errors may result from the publication process (publisher error) or from the authors (corrigendum).

Removal

In exceptional circumstances, an article may be removed from the journal. When this occurs, the article content will be removed and replaced with a notice explaining the reason for the removal.

Retraction

A retraction is issued when a published article is found to contain serious errors or ethical issues that invalidate the findings. The article will remain accessible but will be clearly marked as retracted. The PDF version will include a watermark indicating that the article has been retracted.

IJEC is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, transparency, and publication ethics. All corrections, updates, and retractions will be handled according to best practices in scholarly publishing and in accordance with Crossref and international publishing standards.
