PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Articles submitted to the Journal of International Issues in the Global South undergo a series of peer review processes to support editors in making informed editorial decisions. Furthermore, interactions between editors and authors can yield constructive feedback that helps authors refine and improve the quality of their scientific manuscripts.

Every manuscript submitted for review must be kept confidential and treated as a confidential document. Therefore, the contents of the manuscript may not be shown to or discussed with any other party without the approval of the editor.

The review process must be conducted objectively and professionally. Reviewers should not express personal criticism of the authors but should clearly present their assessments, opinions, or recommendations, supported by relevant reasons and arguments.

Reviewers should identify and highlight relevant publications that the authors have not cited. Reviewers should notify the editor of any significant similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and any other published work known to them.

All information and ideas obtained through peer review are confidential and may not be used for personal gain. Reviewers are also not permitted to assess a manuscript if there is a conflict of interest arising from a competitive relationship, collaboration, or other relationship with the author, company, or institution related to the manuscript.

In carrying out the assessment process, peer reviewers must maintain objectivity and ensure their assessments are not influenced by the manuscript's origin, nationality, religious or political views, gender, the author's personal characteristics, or commercial considerations.

Process:

  1. Articles are submitted to the Journal of International Issues in the Global South for initial review by the Editorial Team. This stage checks for adherence to the focus and scope, the established journal template, and the level of similarity.
  2. If the article passes the initial verification, it is sent to peer reviewers for further review of substance and scientific quality, and a recommendation to the Editorial Team on whether the manuscript should be accepted (with or without revisions) or rejected.
  3. The assigned editor will oversee the article review process, fostering active communication between the author, reviewer, and the editorial team throughout the entire process, from submission to production.
  4. The review process typically takes between 1 and 3 months from the date of article receipt.
